Substance Related Disorders

There are 2 groups of substance related disorders: Substance Use Disorders such as dependence and abuse and Substance-Induced Disorders such as intoxication, withdrawal and substance-induced other mental illnesses (delirium, sleep disorder all due to use of substance)

Substance dependence is more classified by increased tolerance and withdrawal symptoms if use is stopped. Abuse is when the use of the substance impairs or distresses role obligations, the person uses in physically hazardous conditions, leads to legal problems, and impairment in relationships due to use/abuse.

Substance-Induced disorders are also broken down into substance such as alcohol, caffeine, amphetamine, cannabis, cocaine, hallucinogens, inhalant, nicotine, opioid, phencyclidine, sedative, hypnotic, or anxiolytic, polysubstance (3 groups of substances), and other.
