Dissociative Disorders


Dissociative Amnesia – one or more episodes of inability to recall personal information, usually stressful or traumatic in nature, and more than ordinary forgetfulness

Dissociative Fugue – sudden and unexpected travel away from home or work w/ inability to recall past; confusions a/b identity or assumes another identity

Dissociative Identity Disorder – while maybe not the one most diagnosed, but definitely one most known. DID is 2 or more DISTINCT personality states or identities with at least 2 taking control of person’s bx. They exhibit the same inability to recall personal information beyond ordinary forgetfulness

Depersonalization Disorder – consistent experiences of detachment of mental processes or body but reality testing is intact

Dissociative Disorder NOS – fail to meet DID, trances
